What's with the "CHIMMY"?

In the fall of 8th grade, some of my friends played on a fall travel softball team.  They asked me to fill in at a halloween tournament.  We were getting t-shirts made with nicknames on the back.  I didn't really have one. My dad had been talking about a cartoon from his childhood called "Speed Racer". One of the characters had a pet monkey named "Chim Chim", I thought it was funny! So, that's what name went on the jersey. My family started calling me "Chim" to be silly, then my volleyball friends started in with it.  "Chim" evolved into "Chimmy" which has stuck with me through today.
